French Goumiers in turbans

A squad of the famous and fierce Moroccan Goumiers. These irregular Moroccans served in detachments under French officers throughout the campaigns in Tunisia in 1942, Italy and France through the end of the war.

This squad of goumiers consists of 11 figures:

  
• 1 French officer
  
• 1 French NCO
  
• 8 Goumiers with rifles
• 1 Goumier with a BAR

The organization and equipment (Springfield rifles, U.S. belts and helmets) reflects the goumiers as they were re-organized and supplied by the Americans following Operation Torch.

They were skilled mountain fighters and were instrumental in breaking through the German defenses in the fourth and final battle of Monte Cassino in May 1944.
