These along with the 75mm guns and camel are the pride of my Italian Army. Clean cast bold and crisp feature that are a joy to paint. To attention is also paid to the uniform details as well. You just can't get better....

Tirailleurs Algerien (Unit Pack)

i was just revamping my Colonial French Army..and saw again those minis .they are very nice....in fact the uniform, except the colours..should be the same of the Zouave..but if you look closely to those minis , the designer even succeeded in sculpting a typical north african face..different from the "belle époque" typical of the Zouaves...Tirailleurs Algériens are my favourite if compared to Zouaves because they saw more action in Morocco..Askari even produced a bearded Officier Indigène which was a quite rare occurrence in the Armée d'Afriqhe but those few native officers were expert and battle hardened veterans mostly decorated and , in wargame terms (like in TSATF) a very nice addition to your units...

Spahi Guards

Spahi Guards

i was just revamping my Colonial French Army..and saw again those minis two very iconic Spahis..they are superb..not only they remind the ever favourite moovie that we all know..but they are exactly those Spahis belonging to the personal body guard of Gen. Lyautey as they appear in a pair of picts..standing close to the Comandant HQ tent...i imagine that the designer of Askari minis, like me really love French Colonial...

This is an impressive model of the famous French 75mm gun. The detail on the model is great and unlike other companies models it is a pleasure to assemble. It comes together quite nicely and looks solid....

Figures are well cast: cast seam is barely protruding and only one figure in the set has casting residue (which is easily removable). Despite the obvious fragility of the bayonets none of them was detached during sipping.

Sculpt-wise I see no problems apart from somehow oversized hands on some models. The poses are clearly inspired by Vereshchagin paintings....

Foreign Legion 1920s Mule carrying Hotchkiss

Excellent models. Cleanly cast and very detailed. Virtually flash free. I am really impressed with the details on the mule harnesses and the weapon. I am using them for 1939/1940 Free French fighting Vichy and Italians in the Levant. This is a great addition to my Foreign Legion Bolt Action force! Thanks for a great set of figures....

German Schutztruppe Command

German Schutztruppe Command

These are simply outstanding, finely detailed and well researched. Except that the rifle barrels are fragile and sometimes break off, I would not hesitate to give these a fifth star. They are very accurate as to the 1896 khaki Shutztruppe uniform. If I could put in a plug for mounted Shutztruppe please (and possibly others for variety in their corduroy waffenrock with swedish cuffs or kord litewka uniforms with field caps), I would be an eager purchaser of these as well. The site Colonial German Uniforms UK is probably well known to Askari miniatures, but it offers unparallelled documentation for the material culture of the Shutztruppe and the uniforms and equipment used in SW Africa. Congratulations on this extremely fine product line!...

Hereros

Hereros

These are outstanding figures, a superb addition to a very dynamic and exiting line. They are finely detailed and appropriately dressed and accoutered to represent the Herero people of 1904 as they battled the colonial German forces in SW Africa. The only reason I do not rate them with 5 stars is that the tips of the rifles, as with other figures in this line, sometimes arrive snapped off as they are very fragile. This can be fixed with glue but is the one aspect of these castings that I hope can be improved. I would like to put in a strong plus for mounted Herero (and Nama!) forces, as well as noncombatant Hereros, some of whom (especially women) could be wearing traditional dress. Kudos on an excellent product that fills a vital niche for this period!...

Tuaregs mounted on camels

Tuaregs mounted on camels

Just purchased 96 tuaregs on camels for an ancient army. The figures arrived in record time and were totally without flash. They look great, are compatible in size with my other ancient armies and are exactly what I wanted. Not only that they are waaay cheaper than comparable camel troops from any other company. Very well done - hope more Ancient players spot your product - the Tuareg army is viable from 600AD to 1200AD so can fight Mongols, Arabs, or any number of other horse based armies....

I ordered my castings on the week-end and received the figures on Wednesday...wow...talk about great service! Also very glad to see someone doing the Russian Colonial Army of Central Asia...like the other review, I look forward to some artillery and Cossack cavalry to go with the infantry...unlike the other reviewer, by the end of the year both infantry units and General Kaufman will be painted and likely engaging my northwest frontier British in some unofficial skirmishes over control of passes between Central Asia and India......

I've all ways liked Askari Minis figs and the Russian colonial

received them. My package arrived safe and sound yesterday.
The figs look even better in person. Unfortunately they will
have to wait in the painting que. I got 2 of the 20 man unit
deals for which I will use them for The Sword And The Flame.
Now I'm looking forward to some gun crews and Cav....

Moroccan Recruits

Moroccan Recruits

I found these figures to be exactly what I was looking for to support my 1920's FFL. I had collected some Dixon and West Wind legionaires, and these match up well in size. They may be a tad shorter, but the difference is not really noticeable, even when the figures are placed directly next to one another. The level of detail is good, but not overwhelming, allowing me to paint up a unit for The Sword And The Flame relatively quickly. I will definitely be ordering more figures in the near future....

Hallelujah! Finally a true miniature mule! The muzzle, eyes and lack of withers is all just right. I especially like the roached mane. The lack of blinders is an excellent touch for a mule in the wilderness where his human companions would depend upon his senses to warn of approaching danger. These really are great!
