BA-64 Armored Car

$9.95

The BA‑64 was the Red Army’s standard light scout car from 1942 onward, built on the GAZ jeep chassis with true 4×4 mobility. Fast, compact, and armed with a DT machine gun, it served as the Soviets’ eyes and ears from Stalingrad to Berlin.

Description

The BA‑64 was the Red Army’s nimble little scout car, thrown into service in 1942 when the Soviets desperately needed something that could actually leave the road. Built on the GAZ‑64/67 jeep chassis, it was the first Soviet armored car with real 4×4 mobility, letting reconnaissance units follow tanks instead of being left behind in the mud.

Armed with a DT machine gun in an open turret, the BA‑64 wasn’t meant to fight its way through anything — its job was to see first, report fast, and stay alive. Crews used it for scouting, liaison, convoy escort, and battlefield courier work across every front from Stalingrad to Berlin. Its sharply angled armor–inspired by the German SdKfz 222/223–gave decent protection from small‑arms fire, and its light weight let it dart through rubble, forests, and narrow village lanes where heavier cars couldn’t go.

A small machine — but everywhere the Red Army went, a BA‑64 was usually buzzing ahead of it.

Please Note: Models are supplied in gray resin, cleaned, unpainted and with external supports removed. Decals not included. There may be small supports or “nubs” remaining in places like the tracks. These are best removed with a sharp knife. No sanding or filing is necessary (or recommended)!

Some assembly may be required–usually only wheels or tracks. Superglue works great, especially for small parts and repairs. For wheels, I recommend a 5-minute epoxy, but superglue works here, too.
