Description
The T‑70 was the Red Army’s primary light tank of 1942–43, a compact two‑man vehicle armed with a 45 mm gun and built for speed, simplicity, and mass production. It was intended to scout, support infantry, and exploit gaps rather than duel enemy armor. It was mechanically reliable, easy to manufacture, and available in large numbers at a moment when the Red Army needed every armored hull it could field.
On the battlefield, the T‑70 filled a crucial gap during the rebuilding years of 1942–43. It provided mobile firepower for rifle divisions, reconnaissance units, and tank brigades that lacked enough T‑34s. It excelled at flanking moves, ambushes, and supporting infantry in broken terrain where heavier vehicles struggled. Its presence helped stabilize fronts, screen larger formations, and maintain operational tempo during offensives.
For gaming, the T‑70 gives a Soviet army something distinct: a nimble, inexpensive light tank that complements your T‑34s and KV‑1 by handling reconnaissance, flanking, and opportunistic shots. It’s ideal for scenarios set around 1942–43, especially those depicting mixed Soviet formations where light tanks were still common. It also adds visual and narrative variety—small tanks darting through villages, screening advances, or supporting infantry assaults.
Please Note: Models are supplied in gray resin, cleaned, unpainted and with external supports removed. Decals not included. There may be small supports or “nubs” remaining in places like the tracks. These are best removed with a sharp knife. No sanding or filing is necessary (or recommended)!
Some assembly may be required–usually only wheels or tracks. Superglue works great, especially for small parts and repairs. For wheels, I recommend a 5-minute epoxy, but superglue works here, too.
