Description
Askaris of the Muselman (Moslem) Battalions in the 1930s khaki uniform.
8 figures in four variants.
With the campaign of 1935-36 the number of Eritrean battalions was increased and for the first time departments were set up to recruit entirely Muselmano (Moslems). The Islamic turban replaced the tarbusc for these troops.
Eritrean Battalions XXV, XXVI, XXVII, and XXVIII were Moslem. After the campaign, the Askaris were designated as “Battaglione Coloniale” instead of Eriteria or Somalia; at least battalions XLV and LXXI were Moslem battalions.
NOTE: All figures are sold plain (not primed or painted) and without additional basing.
