Description
The Italian 65mm L/17 Mountain Gun mounted on a captured Morris CS8 truck.
This vehicle was created by installing a 65 mm infantry cannon on the cargo bay of British Morris CS8 trucks captured during the first actions in North Africa in 1940. This Autocannone was used by the Batterie Volanti (English: Flying Batteries) artillery group that fought against the Commonwealth forces in the Libyan desert during the North African Campaign. (Tanks Encyclopedia)
These vehicles equipped 7 of the Italian Army’s 16 Batterie Volanti. They operated in an anti-tank role, as well as intercepting and engaging the patrols of the Long Range Desert Groups (LRDGs) or the Special Air Service (SAS).
This exciting new addition to our range comes in two variants: with the sides of the truck either up or down. When ordering, pick which hull type you want.
This is a resin kit. Assembly could not be easier! The hull of the vehicle is in one piece. Just glue on the 4 wheels and the 2 (optional) sand mats and you’re done. The gun itself is in one piece.
Resin kit notes:
The model is supplied in an ABS-like resin, which is similar to plastic models. Super glue seems to work best for attaching all the parts. Like plastics, parts have a little give to them but can snap. The steering wheel, for example, which sits above the top of the hood, can snap off if handled roughly. (I’ve reinforced the steering column to help avoid that.) Also like plastic kits, this model is very light and contains levels of detail not obtainable in any other material.
There may be small supports or “nibs” on the model. These are easily removed with a very sharp craft knife, scalpel or snippers.
