Quality 28mm figures for Colonial and WW2 gaming

German Free Indian Legion

A squad of the Free India Legion (Legion Freies Indien), also known as Infantry Regiment 950 (Indian) (Infanterie-Regiment 950 (indisches), I.R. 950); and from 1944 the Indian Volunteer Legion of the Waffen-SS (Indische Freiwilligen Legion der Waffen-SS)

It was known also as the "Tiger Legion" because of its origins in the Indian independence movement.

Set includes a standard 9-figure infantry squad as shown below.

The Free India Legion was initially raised as an assault group that would form a pathfinder to a German-Indian joint invasion of the western frontiers of British India, but few were used in that way. The unit served in North Africa, France and the Netherlands as well as a company in Italy.

These figures could also be used for the German Free Arab Legion or the Italian Battaglione Azad Hindoustan, both of which wore turbans. These units were used in propaganda and anti-partisan operations in North Africa and the Balkans.

Our display figures are painted in standard German desert khaki with white turbans. They may also have worn khaki turbans--but white just looks cool.
